Every two years, the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam takes place with the help and support of those dedicated individuals and corporate partners who build together with us; a group of active and passionate ambassadors who don’t merely like the festival or find its existence important, but who want to make sure we can realise its full potential.
Friend
Our Friends are the fertile humus layer on which the festival is built. Friends choose what they want to support within the festival: is young talent important to you? Then support our young talent programmes. Do you like the special wines we serve at the festival? Then why not support our festival restaurant? Would you like to help us commission a world première? We’ll make sure your contribution will be part of our next commissioning.

Which amount you’d like to donate is up to you, but becoming a Friend starts at a contribution of just € 50 a year. On top of our gratitude, you’ll receive:
- Two tickets for the Selected by series
- Invitation to the Friends gathering during the festival
- Invitation to special events during the festival and in between editions
Founder
A passionate group of string quartet devotees
The String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam is proud of its Founders. Together with the string quartets and our partners, they have made the world’s largest string quartet festival possible from the very beginning.
Together, we share the love for string quartet and regularly meet during (house) concerts at unique locations. Several times a year we introduce you to young, up-and-coming string quartets and the world top as we take you along in our plans for the coming editions of the festival.
In addition, we offer our Founders:
- Invitation for our Founders events (at least two events yearly)
- Two tickets to the opening concert and gathering afterwards
- Priority seating
- Mention in festival book (unless not desired)
- Founders gatherings, every afternoon during the festival
Founders commit to a durable relationship with the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam by donating a minimum of € 10.000 over a period of five years. As the String Quartet Biennale is registered as a Dutch ANBI (Public Benefit Organisation / PBO), contributions made to our foundation are tax deductible.

The String Quartet Biennale is a forum for dreams to become reality, and for the wildest and usually unrealisable ideas to take shape and wing. For us, as quartets, it is a unique meeting place for quartets amongst themselves - something which rarely happens in the wild.

Essential support for unique projects
The String Quartet Biennale cherishes its select group of leading donors, who make a financial contribution of an exceptional category to the String Quartet Biennale – each in their own preferred way, with the aim of really investing in the “cultural return” of the Biennale. The contributions of our ‘Angels’ directly support a prestigious or unique project within the festival programme, such as the commissioning of a new composition, with which they’d like to associate their name. ‘Angels’ also support the String Quartet Biennale in a sustainable manner, for example by means of a testamentary donation (a bequest).
