How do we humans look at the intangible? Death; the night; a next life; a parallel reality; the untouchable energies from the universe and nature that surround us? In this programme, the human voice and the string quartet merge to explore the world of the untouchable together. Soprano Aphrodite Patoulidou brings something special with her: her nyckelharpa.
Since the second edition of the String Quartet Biennale in 2020, we have known that the Calder Quartet does not shy away from spectacular programmes. That we can also expect a lot from Aphrodite Patoulidou becomes clear from the words of Barbara Hannigan: “She sang the stars of heaven (de sterren van de hemel, as we say in Holland), and at that moment, I knew that she had an extraordinary future ahead. Her creativity and innate love for music and performance flows out from her to anyone she meets, onstage or in the audience.”
In this programme, the human voice and the string quartet merge to explore the world of the untouchable together.
