Two string quartets and a string orchestra, in a program full of works that you rarely hear – and even a Dutch première. The Spanish composer / conductor Francisco Coll is a rising star. This evening he conducts his own Concerto Grosso ‘Invisible Zones’. Cuarteto Casals, who gave the première sic years ago, now join him and Amsterdam Sinfonietta for the Dutch première.
Karl Amadeus Hartmann’s Kammerkonzert is inspired by Hungarian folk music. String orchestra, string quartet and clarinet merge in this work to form a unique sound experience. Béla Bartók also returned to folk music in his First Rhapsody, with a virtuoso solo role for violin. Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Cuarteto Casals, Quatuor Danel and clarinetist Olivier Patey come together in a festival program pur sang.
